Example of a Project Manager Cover Letter

A project manager (PM) is a person that has the overall responsibility for the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of a project. The person on this position needs to have several skills such as an ability to ask penetrating questions, detect unstated assumptions and resolve conflicts, as well as more general management skills.

Everyone in the team should be realistic about the uncertainty which potentially rises risks up. It is the main concern that the project manager needs to focus on. His or her roles are including:

  • Plan and define scope
  • Plan resource
  • Estimate time and cost
  • Create charts and schedules
  • Analyze risks
  • Monitor and report progress
  • Lead the team
  • Work with vendors
  • Manage risks and issues

Do you have ever performed those roles in some projects? If so, it must be easy to write a professional cover letter to apply for a job overseeing and managing a company project that interest you. There are mainly two essential matters to include, i.e. your background and experience one or more projects, and also your interest and enthusiasm for this type of work. However, it is also possible to apply when you still have less experience. You just should understand what it takes to determine the details necessary to manage a business project through from the start to finish. Here is a simple example of cover letter to copy:

Dear Ms. Burke:

I saw your post on JobSearchJimmy.com this week while looking for an opening as a project manager. I was particularly pleased to see your listing since I’ve had experience working in a shipping environment. In fact, I was the assistant manager of a small UPS store in my community for three years.

I have since moved to Big Town, however, and hope to find employment in a similar profession closer to home. I have many of the skills required to manage a project from start to finish—organization, leadership, promptness, and reliability.

If you’re interested in meeting me in person so I can talk in more detail about what I’ve accomplished in my previous employment and how much I enjoyed the role in management, please phone me at 777-777-7777. I would also welcome this opportunity to hear from you about what you are looking for in the person you hire.

I’m grateful for the chance to introduce myself and my skills in this letter. Thank you for your time and attention.

Sincerely,

Jean Job Searcher
