They do not focus on the learning process in the class. They even need to extend far beyond the students’ lives, families and community. Mr. Harry Washburn
Hanford Elementary School
8323 Main St.
Jackson, CA 43434
Dear Mr. Washburn:
I’d like to apply for one of the open elementary school teaching positions in the Hanford School District. I graduated from Jackson College in 2003, and I have classroom experience in the first and fifth grade levels.
Currently, I am teaching “at risk” kindergarteners. I’ve enjoyed this position because I’m able to help these students master the basic skills they need to thrive in later grades. It takes a lot of nurturing and patience, and I think they’ve taught me as much as I’ve taught them.
During my sophomore year at Jackson College, I developed a love for and knowledge of horses. I became involved with taking care of older “retired” horses. This work gave me the opportunity to teach my students about horses, and coordinate some field trips to the stables. This has been a fulfilling experience for my students and me—and perhaps for the horses too!
I’d love the opportunity to share with you my range of experience and skills in education, and to convey my compassion and enthusiasm towards students. I know I can leave a positive mark on your school district. I’d like to set up an in-office meeting with you to talk further. If you are interested, please contact me (555-555-5555) at your convenience to schedule an interview.
Thank you for taking the time to review my cover letter and resume. I look forward to hearing from you.
