Hiring Manager
Any Town Fire Department

Dear Mr. Dodd:
I saw on the Internet your announcement that you are now accepting cover letters and applications for two positions in your fire station. Currently I am an experienced fire fighter with four years of active service in Small Town, USA.
Now that I live in Any Town I am interested in finding employment with the Any Town Fire Department so I was especially pleased to see that you have openings for qualified individuals.
I also read that you are interested in receiving one-page resumes with details about previous service as a firefighter. I am enclosing mine with this letter, where you will see in detail my record of accomplishments, including my involvement with the massive ‘East Side’ fire of 2010 where I was able to lead a team of colleagues in saving an area of residential homes that were threatened by wild fire.
I’m aware that you will receive many applications for these openings but I hope you will consider my experience and give me an opportunity to come in for an interview so we can speak in person.
You can reach me by phone at 777-777-7777 days or evenings until 10:00 p.m.
Thank you for the opportunity to submit my cover letter, application, and resume and to bid for one of the jobs open in your station.
